The TV Guardian is really two devices in one. It combines a high performance video Closed Caption decoder with the ability to detect and substitute text words for offensive language and religious references. The language filter feature is optional, and can be turned ON or OFF by a switch on the unit's back. When the language filter is off, the TV Guardian displays standard NCI text captions. With the language filter switched on, the TV Guardian compares all incoming text with a built-in dictionary. When a suspect word is detected, a substitute word is inserted in it's place. Example: s**t becomes crud. The TV Guardian also features optional stereo audio pass-through connections. When used with the language filter on, the audio is muted for a few seconds each time suspect words are detected.Features include: High quality line level (RCA) video input and output, udio inputs and outputs for optional audio muting when offensive language is detected, F-type RF channel 3/4 output, CAPTION and FILTER switches on back to independently control both functions, NCI-2 standard captions with semi-transparent movable text (location controlled by encoder), AC power supply, and cables.
